The world is falling apart by KaniJonas The world is falling apart by KaniJonas
Taken at the north coast of Åland islands :)

EDIT: I did a retake of this picture this year, slightly different angle and unfortunately not as good weather conditions:

1. First of all, regardless of technique, this is an AMAZING picture. It's just beautiful to look at.
2. The fast shutter speed is spot on - shows every little details of the water.
3. The lighting is wonderful. It seem that the sun is low, on the far bottom right side of the picture, which adds a smooth light to the waves and a wonderful coloring to the skies.
4. The use of panorama here is brilliant. I think that adding further width to it would just ruin it.
5. I think that it's good that you didn't use a smaller aperture so that the back is a BIT out of focus. adds a bit of a painterly feeling to it.
6. I love that the contrast isn't too hard. It's calming.

Really? I'm actually quite pleased with the brightness (could fo course differ on different monitors). Or do you mean too short for the effect on the water?

:icondonjas:
DonJas Featured By Owner Oct 28, 2011  Hobbyist Photographer
no, as in it is too dark, should have exposed it more (like in photoshop) the water is perfect :D

Hmm must be difference in monitors, because on my screen it's pretty much perfect. Of course it's a matter of preference as well.

Thanks :) Sorry about the border. Just a period I had when I put borders on everything. (And also I'm really not a fan of the background color on DA, really kills the colors in the photos.)

Whoah really ferocious sea - and it contrasts so much with the calm sunset of the land around :D Was the wind so strong or is that place usually so dynamic? :D

It's that windy (15+ m/s) about 3 days a year, and I was lucky to catch 2 of them that year :) But I missed the best one which was 25 m/s or so :( Hoping for it to happen again this year!
